Holy Land Experiences and Recreations

The recreation and reenactment of the Bible's stories, places, and events is a tradition dating back to at least the Middle Ages. For those who could not themselves visit the Holy Land, these recreations provided and continue to provide a meaningful way of actualizing the Bible's setting. Though some recreations concern themselves with accuracy to biblical narrative, archaeological evidence, and the physical environment of the Holy Land, others take tremendous liberties. In all cases, recreations invoke personal biases so that each Holy Land is truly a personal one. During my travels, I plan on visiting several Holy Land recreation villages. As I make my visits, I'll analyze, observe, and enjoy.
